What’s supported here

Canadian home records and dollars are supported. Current regional guidance covers Ontario and British Columbia. The app is currently in English.

Provincial rules differ. For example, Ontario’s rent deposit is for the final rental period; it is not a deposit to deduct repair costs from.

Keep original room and item photos with dated notes. Record condition and cleanliness separately so there is more context than a photograph alone.

Leave room for a response.

Owner and tenant contributions remain separate. Keep corrections, comments and disagreements visible rather than treating silence as agreement.

Return to the same history.

Keep subsequent repair photos and work notes with the home. Compare earlier and later condition records and export a report when useful.

Which parts of Canada have regional guidance?

Canadian home records and dollars are supported. Current regional guidance covers Ontario and British Columbia. Provincial requirements differ, so check the official process for your property.

Is Housetold available in French?

The app is currently in English. Canadian currency and home records are supported, but that does not mean a French-language version is available.

Can I use a condition report to decide a deduction?

A report helps organise what was recorded and each person’s response. It does not decide fault, settle a dispute or establish whether a deduction is permitted. Deposit rules depend on the province.
